The mission of the Middle School program is to provide our students in grades six through eight with a diversified, thematic program which integrates literature, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, the arts, technology, and athletics while continuing to reinforce basic academic skills.

During this time of adolescence we emphasize organizational skills, independence, responsibility, and decision making, stressing the importance of participation and involvement in the learning process. Finally, at the simplest and most profound level, we teach respect for self, for others, for school, and for the community.

Small Class Size

Middle School class sizes are small, ranging from 6 to 16, to ensure our students receive individualized attention. In language arts and math classes, our students are grouped according to their skill levels and academic needs to allow each to be appropriately challenged and to reinforce basic skills.

Middle School students are heterogeneously grouped in science, literature and social studies classes, encouraging the development of cooperative group skills and the opportunity for students to learn from each other.

Fine arts, practical arts, and computer teachers work with the core teachers to integrate these subject areas into the thematic units when possible. Field trips and service projects add practical, outside-the-classroom experience to thematic units.
