Virginia Beach Friends school offers one of the best and largest curricula in technology among secondary schools, boasting a high ratio of computers to students in the Upper and Middle Schools. Lower School students also receive an introduction to basic computing and hands-on skills for educational computer use.
The Technology Program is designed to provide a thorough educational experience from basic through advanced levels. Classes provide hands-on practice with computers and high performance work stations. Video production classes offer practical experience with all aspects of movie making, from creation and production to editing and co-op opportunities.
Students with interest and ability can pursue programming classes under supervision of highly qualified faculty. Students learn on-line safety as well as communication, commercial applications, data structure, programming languages and compilers. From web page design, to computer programming, 3D animation and video production, students can attend an advanced array of technology classes which prepares them to excel in this digital age.
VBFS students are eligible for many annual technology awards and have won the top National Award at the Bridge Film Festival.
